etBackers bắt đầu với Midõ Ban và Amano Ginji khẳng định 100% thành công trong việc mang về những đồ vật bị mất cho chính chủ sở hữu nó. Lời khẳng định của họ được chứng minh qua các nhiệm vụ trong năm tập đầu của series, khi một cô nữ sinh trung học thuê họ lấy lại vật thủ công quan trọng của cô là một con mèo nhồi bông; một người đàn ông lang thang cầu xin họ đưa cô con gái ông ta về, cô gái đó rơi vào tay một bọn yakuza; và một thương nhân yếu ớt thuê họ mang về chiếc hộp sức mạnh đã bị đánh cắp.
